Tourism Authority lines up indoor and outdoor events
Special events, both indoor and outdoor organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and its partners, will set entertain residents and visitors in the country throughout the Eid al-Adha celebrations, it was announced.
Apart from the activities at the Summer Entertainment City (SEC), QTA said in a statement that free entertainment shows at various malls from 4pm to 10pm are expected to enthral families and children.
Doha Festival City (DHFC) will treat young mall-goers with its Tom and Jerry shows at 4pm, 7.45pm, and 9.15pm while shoppers at Lagoona Mall will get a chance to watch Peter Pan’s hour-long performances on stage at 4.30pm, 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
DHFC will also present Baraem TV’s children’s show dubbed as ‘Doing Good Together’ at 5pm, 6.30pm and 8.30pm led by its famous characters. They will also appear on Mall of Qatar’s Oasis Stage to perform ‘Eid Happiness’ twice for half-an-hour daily at 3pm and 5pm.
According to QTA, the Eid celebration will also see acrobatic ballet and theatrical circus troupes rotating among the participating malls to put on three 20-minute shows daily.
Following a successful debut on Qatar National Theater’s stage, the Arabic play Khosheysha (Hide & Seek) by alSafliya Media Production will be performed at SEC’s stage for free over Eid from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. The short play teaches children about traditional Qatari values and social customs.
For outdoor activities, QTA said that Sealine Beach, Aqua Park, Aspire Park, Katara – the Cultural Village, Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah are hosting an array of entertainment, cultural shows, and events that cater to all ages.
Katara will be the scene of traditional fireworks display between 9.30pm and 9.45pm from the first to the fourth day of Eid al-Adha.
Renowned stand-up comedians Mo Amer, Maz Jobrani, Nemr Nemr, Vir Das, and Qatar’s very own Hamad al-Ammari, will take centre stage at the third summer edition of Doha Comedy Festival at the Qatar National Convention Centre on September 3 starting at 8pm.
QTA said people can still buy tickets in the silver, gold and platinum categories for QR45, QR99 and QR149 at all Virgin Megastores branches in Qatar or online.
Qatar Summer Festival, known as the country’s longest running festival, will conclude with a closing event and a mega raffle draw, followed by special traditional and entertainment performances, on September 5 at Mall of Qatar from 6pm onwards.
